“I was still getting my head around how to run a business… So I definitely felt like I needed some sort of solution that would let me dedicate more time to marketing.”

Alessandra Smith left her pharmacy career for interior design, channeling meticulous attention to detail into bold color narratives and curated eclecticism. She tailors each space to her clients’ personalities, balancing function and style in equal measure. Programa’s project management tools help her keep those details in check—managing schedules, specs, and communication in one place—so she can focus on creating meaningful interiors.

“Programa lets me focus on design, not data entry. When clients see how organized I am, they trust me with bigger projects.”

At Kazoo in Caulfield East, she worked within an Edwardian home originally funded by racehorse winnings. The house, last updated in 2014 by Architects EAT, now features a jewel-toned palette that nods to riding silks. Deep slate-green walls, ceiling, and woodwork create a rich backdrop for a Daniel Boddam wave sofa, a rosso levanto marble coffee table, and a custom Murano chandelier. Roman blinds in Catherine Martin’s Jungle Room fabric add a playful nod to a favorite Florentine hotel, while the hallway’s warm gold invites a grand sense of arrival. From the children’s bedrooms to the primary suite, Kazoo merges heritage character with layered color and texture, reflecting Alessandra’s belief that design should be both personal and practical.

“It’s an extension of my brand. The back end of my business feels as put-together as my client-facing work.”

Kazoo House: Programa in Action
This 1920s renovation required careful attention to heritage details. Alessandra relied on these core Programa features to keep it all under control:
“Programa…lets me see the status of each piece, what needs to be ordered, when things are going to be delivered. It has all of that vital information in one place.”

The Results
Because everything is in one platform, Alessandra can check the status of deliveries, budgets, or tasks without hunting down files. She says it’s removed much of the panic that comes from last-minute updates and changes.

“When I saw how effectively the Web Clipping tool could take information from suppliers’ websites…I was immediately sold.”
